The 3M 89114-0001 is a 14 position IDC (Insulation Displacement Connection) ribbon cable socket from the 891 series. It features a 2.54mm pitch and 2 rows with 0.100" (2.54mm) row spacing, making it compatible with standard .050" pitch ribbon cable.
The connector uses a free hanging (in-line) mounting style and is designed for 26-28 AWG stranded wire. Contacts are phosphor bronze with 30µin (0.76µm) gold plating over nickel underplate. The housing is gray glass filled polyester (PBT) with a UL94 V-0 flammability rating.
Electrical ratings include a withstanding voltage of 1000V RMS at sea level and insulation resistance greater than 1 GΩ at 500V DC. Current rating depends on wire gauge and number of powered lines: 1.25A for 28 AWG and 1.50A for 26 AWG (all lines powered, 30°C rise, 20% derated).
The IDC termination eliminates the need for wire stripping or soldering, simplifying assembly. The connector includes a feed-through feature for daisy-chaining.
