The PCF8582C-2 from NXP Semiconductors is a 256x8-bit (2 kbit) CMOS Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory (EEPROM) featuring an I2C-bus interface. Designed for low power consumption, it operates with a single supply down to 2.5 V and has a maximum operating current of 2 mA. Standby current is a mere 10 µA at 6.0 V.

This EEPROM utilizes an internal redundant storage code for fault tolerance against single-bit errors, significantly increasing reliability compared to conventional EEPROMs. It supports both byte write and 8-byte page write modes, minimizing total write time. Read operations include sequential and random access. The device integrates an on-chip voltage multiplier for programming and an internal timer for writing, eliminating the need for external components.

With an endurance of 1,000,000 Erase/Write cycles and 10 years of data retention, the PCF8582C-2 is suitable for various applications requiring reliable non-volatile storage. It operates at clock frequencies up to 100 kHz and is available in DIP8 and SO8 packages, supporting through-hole mounting.

ESD protection exceeds 2000 V HBM, 150 V MM, and 1000 V CDM. Latch-up testing is done to JEDEC Standard JESD78, exceeding 100 mA.
