The 8209-6003 is a D-Sub plug connector from the 3M 8200 series, designed for panel mount applications with IDC termination for ribbon cable. It features 9 signal contacts arranged in 2 rows, with a shell size of 1 (DE, E). The contacts are made of copper alloy with a nickel underplating of 50 μ” and a gold wiping area of 30 μ” ensuring reliable connections. The steel shell is tin-plated and includes grounding indents for EMI/ESD protection. The connector is rated for a current of 1A, with an insulation resistance greater than 1×10^9 Ω at 500 V DC and a withstanding voltage of 1000 V RMS at sea level. Operating temperature ranges from -55°C to +105°C. The insulator is gray glass-filled polyester (PBT) with a UL94 V-0 flammability rating. The connector accommodates 26 and 28 AWG solid or stranded wires and includes a stainless steel strain relief. The flange feature includes housing/shell (4-40) for secure mounting. This connector is suitable for data and signal applications requiring reliable shielded connections. The 8200 series connectors are available in open or closed end cover options, with dimples for EMI/ESD protection. The improved metal strain relief hooks directly to the metal shell.
