The 8.0SMDJ14A is a unidirectional TVS diode from Littelfuse designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning and other transient events. It offers a reverse standoff voltage of 14V, a minimum breakdown voltage of 15.6V, and a maximum clamping voltage of 23.2V at 344.9A peak pulse current (10/1000µs waveform). With a peak pulse power rating of 8000W and a response time of less than 1ps, it provides robust protection for I/O interfaces, VCC bus, and telecom circuits.
The device is housed in a surface mount DO-214AB (SMC) package with matte tin lead-free plating. It operates over a junction temperature range of -65°C to 150°C and features a thermal resistance of 15°C/W junction-to-lead. The 8.0SMDJ14A is halogen free and RoHS compliant per the datasheet, and meets MSL level 1 per J-STD-020.
Typical applications include telecom equipment, computer systems, industrial electronics, and consumer devices where transient voltage suppression is required. The diode is also ESD protected per IEC 61000-4-2 (30kV air/contact) and EFT protected per IEC 61000-4-4.
