The ON Semiconductor 74VHC595MTCX is an advanced high-speed CMOS shift register designed for efficient data handling. This 8-bit serial-in, parallel-out device feeds an 8-bit D-type storage register with eight 3-state outputs. It operates across a voltage range of 2V to 5.5V and maintains low power dissipation.
Fabricated with silicon gate CMOS technology, the 74VHC595MTCX achieves high-speed operation comparable to bipolar Schottky TTL while offering CMOS low power advantages. It features separate positive-edge triggered clocks for the shift register and storage register, along with a direct-overriding clear input. An input protection circuit allows 0V to 5.5V to be applied to input pins without regard to the supply voltage, enabling interfacing between 5V and 3V systems.
