The 74VHC373M from ON Semiconductor is an advanced, high-speed CMOS octal D-type latch designed with silicon gate CMOS technology. It achieves high-speed operation comparable to bipolar Schottky TTL while maintaining low CMOS power dissipation. This 8-bit latch is controlled by a latch enable (LE) input and an output enable (OE) input.

When the latch enable (LE) is HIGH, the latches are transparent to data. When LE is LOW, the data present at the D inputs is latched. The 3-STATE outputs are controlled by the OE input; when OE is HIGH, the outputs are in a high impedance state. This device offers high noise immunity and power-down protection on all inputs.

Key electrical specifications include a typical propagation delay of 5.0 ns at VCC = 5V, a minimum operating voltage of 2V and a maximum of 5.5V, and a low quiescent current of 4 µA maximum at 25°C. The operating temperature range is from -40°C to 85°C. The 74VHC373M is supplied in a 20-SOIC package and is suitable for surface mounting.

This latch is pin and function compatible with the 74HC373 and can be used to interface 5V to 3V systems. Its input protection circuit allows 0V to 5.5V to be applied to the input pins without regard to the supply voltage, preventing device destruction due to mismatched supply and input voltages.
