The 74HCT393D from Philips is a high-speed Si-gate CMOS dual 4-bit binary ripple counter. It is pin-compatible with Low-power Schottky TTL (LSTTL) and specified in compliance with JEDEC standard no. 7A.
This device contains two independent 4-bit binary ripple counters, each with separate clock (CP) and master reset (MR) inputs. The counters are triggered by a HIGH-to-LOW transition of the clock inputs. The master resets are active-HIGH asynchronous inputs that override the clock and set the outputs LOW.
Key electrical characteristics include propagation delays from nCP to nQ0 of up to 20 ns and a maximum clock frequency of 99 MHz (under specific test conditions). Input capacitance is typically 3.5 pF.
The 74HCT393D is available in DIP14, SO14, and SSOP14 packages, suitable for through-hole and surface mount applications. The outputs of the ripple counter do not change synchronously and should not be used for high-speed address decoding.
