The 74HC/HCT373 is a high-speed Si-gate CMOS octal D-type transparent latch featuring separate D-type inputs for each latch and 3-state outputs for bus-oriented applications. It is pin-compatible with low power Schottky TTL (LSTTL) and specified in compliance with JEDEC standard no. 7A.
Key features include a common 3-state output enable input and functionally identical operation to the '563', '573', and '533' series. The device has a typical propagation delay from data input to output of 12ns for HC and 14ns for HCT, and from latch enable to output of 15ns for HC and 13ns for HCT, with a load capacitance of 15 pF and VCC of 5V.
When the latch enable (LE) is HIGH, data at the D inputs enters the latches, making them transparent. When LE is LOW, the latches store the information present at the D inputs. The output enable (OE) input controls the 3-state outputs; when OE is LOW, the latch contents are available at the outputs. When OE is HIGH, the outputs go to a high impedance OFF-state.
This latch is designed for bus-oriented applications, offering a bus driver output capability. The device operates with a typical input capacitance of 3.5 pF and power dissipation capacitance of 45 pF for HC and 41 pF for HCT per latch.
