Data meeting setup and hold time requirements on the low-to-high clock transition is stored and appears at the nQ output. The flip-flop includes Schmitt-trigger action on the clock input, providing tolerance for slower clock rise and fall times. Input clamp diodes allow for current-limiting resistors to interface inputs to voltages exceeding VCC.
