74HC4051

The 74HC4051 is a high-speed Si-gate CMOS 8-channel analog multiplexer/demultiplexer from Harris Semiconductor. It is designed for applications requiring the selection of one of eight analog signals or the distribution of a signal to one of eight outputs.

Key features include a wide analog input voltage range of ±5V and low ON resistance, which is typically 80 Ω at VCC − VEE = 4.5 V, decreasing to 60 Ω at VCC − VEE = 9.0 V. The device supports logic level translation, enabling 5V logic to interface with ±5V analog signals. It operates with a supply voltage range of 2.0 V to 10.0 V for HC variants and 4.5 V to 5.5 V for HCT variants.

The 74HC4051 features three digital select inputs (S0 to S2) and an active LOW enable input (E). With E LOW, one of the eight switches is selected. With E HIGH, all switches are in a high impedance OFF-state. The device has a typical 'break before make' function built-in.
