The 73S8024RN is a low-cost single smart card interface IC designed for full electrical compliance with ISO 7816-3, EMV 4.0 (EMV2000) and NDS specifications. It is controlled via a dedicated control bus and provides an interrupt output for card presence and fault indication.
The interface operates from a 5V supply voltage (VPC, typically -5%/+10%) and integrates an internal LDO regulator to supply the card at either 3V or 5V, selectable. The card output current is minimum 90mA. An on-chip oscillator can drive the card clock using an external crystal or clock signal. The activation/deactivation sequencer follows ISO 7816-3, with emergency deactivation on fault conditions including card over-current, supply faults, or over-heating.
The IC includes protection circuitry for card over-current detection (true current sensing) and adjustable VDD voltage fault threshold. Hardware support for auxiliary C4/C8 contacts is provided. The device is housed in a 28-pin SOIC (28-SOIC) surface mount package with gull wing leads.
This IC is suitable for any application requiring an ISO 7816-3 compliant smart card interface, such as point-of-sale terminals, set-top boxes, and secure authentication systems.
The supply voltage (VPC) is 5V typical, with a tolerance of -5%/+10%.
The card voltage is selectable between 3V or 5V via the internal LDO regulator.
It complies with ISO 7816-3, EMV 4.0, and NDS specifications.
The device is available in a 28-SOIC surface mount package.
The card output current is minimum 90mA.
The card clock can be generated by an on-chip oscillator using an external crystal or by connection to an external clock signal.
RoHS3 Compliant (unverified — data from low-confidence source).
