The 6043 Aluminum Alloy is a heat-treatable Al-Mg-Si alloy designed for architectural and structural uses. It is recognized under international standards such as AA 6043, UNS A96043, ISO AlMg0.7Si, ASTM B221, and EN AW-6043.
Key chemical composition limits include Silicon (0.30-0.7%), Magnesium (0.40-0.9%), and low levels of Manganese, Copper, Iron, Chromium, Zinc, and Titanium. This composition ensures good corrosion resistance and surface quality for anodizing.
Physical properties include a density of 2.70 g/cm³, a melting range of 600-650°C, and a coefficient of thermal expansion of 23.4 × 10⁻⁶/°C. Mechanical properties for the T5 temper include a tensile strength of 180-230 MPa and a yield strength of 120-170 MPa.
This alloy is available in various forms such as Bar, Ribbon, Wire, Rods, Tube, Pipe, Foil, Plate, Sheet, Strip, and Forging Stock.
