The 5KP7.0A is a 5kW peak pulse power TVS diode from Littelfuse, part of the 5KP series. It is designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning and other transient events. This Zener-type TVS diode features a breakdown voltage of 7.78V (nominal) and a maximum clamping voltage of 12V at a peak pulse current of 425A (10/1000µs waveform). It also offers a peak forward surge current of 400A (8.3ms half sine wave) and a fast response time typically less than 1.0ps.
The device is housed in a P600 axial leaded package with through-hole mounting. It has an operating junction temperature range of -55°C to 175°C and a steady state power dissipation of 8.0W on infinite heat sink. The thermal resistance junction-to-lead is 8.0°C/W and junction-to-ambient is 40°C/W.
