The 5KP22A is a unidirectional transient voltage suppression (TVS) diode from the 5KP series by Littelfuse. It is designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning and other transient voltage events.
It features a reverse standoff voltage of 22V, a clamping voltage of 35.5V at peak pulse current of 143.7A, and a peak pulse power dissipation of 5kW (10/1000µs waveform). The device has a fast response time typically less than 1.0ps and a low dynamic resistance. It is unidirectional with one channel.
The 5KP22A is housed in a P600 axial leaded package for through-hole mounting. It operates over a junction temperature range of -55°C to 175°C. The thermal resistance from junction to lead is 8.0°C/W and junction to ambient is 40°C/W. Steady state power dissipation is 8.0W on infinite heat sink at 75°C lead temperature.
It is suitable for general purpose use, including protection of I/O interfaces, VCC bus, and other vulnerable circuits in telecom, computer, industrial, and consumer electronics. The device is halogen-free, RoHS compliant, and has Pb-free E3 terminal finish.
