The 5KP170CA is a bidirectional Zener TVS diode from Littelfuse designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning and other transient voltage events. It features a maximum clamping voltage of 275V and can handle a peak pulse current of 18.5A under a 10/1000μs waveform. The device offers a peak pulse power dissipation of 5000W (5kW) and a steady state power dissipation of 8.0W on an infinite heat sink at TL=75°C.
This TVS diode has a fast response time of less than 1.0ps from 0V to breakdown voltage minimum. It provides ESD protection up to 30kV air and 30kV contact per IEC 61000-4-2. The device is housed in a P600 axial leaded package and supports through-hole mounting. It is RoHS3 compliant, halogen free, and lead free (Pb-free E3).
The 5KP170CA is suitable for general purpose applications including protection of I/O interfaces, VCC bus, and other vulnerable circuits in telecom, computer, industrial, and consumer electronics. It is UL recognized to UL 497B as an isolated loop circuit protector.
