The TEKELEC 5801 is a BiMOS II latched driver integrated circuit designed for simplifying microprocessor or computer I/O. It features 8 data latches with associated CLEAR, STROBE, and OUTPUT ENABLE circuitry. The power outputs are bipolar npn Darlingtons capable of sinking 500 mA and withstanding at least 50 V in the OFF state.
These devices offer high-voltage, high-current outputs and are compatible with CMOS, NMOS, and TTL inputs. They have integral diodes for inductive load transient suppression. The UCN5801EP variant is supplied in a 28-lead PLCC package suitable for surface mounting.
The UCN5801A/EP/LW series can operate at data input rates up to 4.4 MHz with a 5 V logic supply, with performance improving at 12 V. The outputs can be paralleled for higher load current capability. These ICs are suitable for directly driving peripheral loads such as relays, lamps, solenoids, and small DC motors.
