The 501GILF Loco™ PLL Clock Multiplier by Integrated Device Technology is a cost-effective solution for generating high-quality, high-frequency clock outputs from a lower frequency crystal or clock input. Utilizing Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) techniques, this device employs a standard fundamental mode, inexpensive crystal to produce output clocks up to 160 MHz. The chip's ROM stores the ability to generate nine different multiplication factors, enabling a single chip to output many common frequencies.
Key electrical specifications include an input frequency range of 2-50 MHz and an output frequency range of 13-140 MHz. It supports core and output voltages of 3.3V and 5V. The device exhibits a typical period jitter of 70 ps (P-P) and operates within a temperature range of -40 to 85°C. The input type is Crystal or LVCMOS, and the output type is LVCMOS.
The 501GILF is housed in a TSSOP package with 8 leads, measuring 3.0 x 3.0 x 0.97 mm with a pitch of 0.65 mm. The package area is 9 mm². It is supplied in a tube with 96 units per carrier. The Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) is 2592 units.
This product is intended for clock generation applications. It features an output enable pin that tri-states the clock output when the OE pin is low. While it has low output jitter, input to output skew and jitter are not defined or guaranteed. For applications requiring defined input to output skew, the 570B is recommended.
