The Vishay Dale 4N38 is a single-channel optocoupler featuring a gallium arsenide infrared LED and a silicon NPN phototransistor. It provides a high isolation test voltage of 5000 VRMS, making it suitable for applications requiring electrical isolation.
This device is designed for interfacing with common logic families and has an input-output coupling capacitance of less than 0.5 pF. The optocoupler operates with a nominal forward current of 60 mA and a minimum current transfer ratio of 20% at 20 mA. Switching times are approximately 10µs for both turn-on and turn-off.
