The E-T-A 4230-T Series is a line of single and multipole thermal-magnetic miniature circuit breakers (MCBs) compliant with EN 60947-2, UL 1077, and UL 489 standards. These breakers are designed for DIN rail mounting and feature toggle actuation with visual status indication and high rupture capacity.
Key electrical specifications include a 32A current rating. Voltage ratings vary by standard: up to AC 240V/DC 80V for IEC/EN 60947-2, AC 277V/DC 125V for UL 1077, and AC 120V/DC 60V for UL 489 (1-pole). The rupture capacity is rated at 10,000A AC/DC according to IEC/EN 60947-2 and UL 489.
Environmental and mechanical specifications include an operating temperature range of -35°C to +70°C, IP20 degree of protection, and compliance with shock, vibration, and corrosion tests per IEC 60068 standards. Terminals are screw type, supporting cable cross-sections up to 35 mm² with a maximum tightening torque of 2 Nm.
Typical applications for these circuit breakers include the protection of cables, motors, generators, transformers, thyristors, silicon rectifiers, computers, industrial process control systems, telecommunications equipment, and power supplies.
The operating voltage depends on the standard and configuration. For UL 489 1-pole AC: 120V (1-63A) or 277V (1-32A). For UL 1077 1-pole AC: 277V. For IEC/EN 60947-2 1-pole AC: 240V. DC ratings: 60VDC (1-pole) and 125VDC (2-pole in series). Multi-pole AC ratings up to 480Y/277V (UL 489/1077) and 415V (IEC 60947-2).
The circuit breaker operates in ambient temperatures from -35°C to 70°C.
The rupture capacity is 7,500 A AC (IEC/EN 60947-2 Ics), 10,000 A DC (Ics), 10,000 A AC/DC (Icu), and 10,000 A AC/DC (UL 489).
It is a single-pole (1-pole) circuit breaker.
It is approved under UL 489, UL 1077, CSA C22.2 No 235, and IEC/EN 60947-2.
The circuit breaker mounts on a DIN rail and uses screw terminals accepting cable up to 35 mm², with a tightening torque of 2 Nm and a stripping length of 14 mm.
