The Littelfuse 3KP40CA is a bidirectional Zener TVS diode designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning and other transient events. It features a reverse standoff voltage of 40V and a clamping voltage of 64.5V at a peak pulse current of 46.5A. With a peak pulse power dissipation of 3000W (10/1000μs waveform) and an extremely fast response time of less than 1ps, it provides robust protection for I/O interfaces, VCC bus lines, and other vulnerable circuits in telecom, computer, industrial, and consumer applications.
The device is housed in a P600 axial through-hole package with matte tin lead finish, rated for operating junction temperatures from -55°C to 175°C. It is RoHS3 compliant, halogen free, and features a glass passivated chip junction for reliability. The 3KP40CA also meets IEC 61000-4-2 ESD requirements (30kV air/contact) and IEC 61000-4-4 EFT standards. Its typical failure mode is short circuit under over-specified voltage or current conditions.
