The 3KP36CA is a 3000W bidirectional transient voltage suppression (TVS) diode designed by Littelfuse. It is part of the 3KP series and is intended to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning and other transient events.
Key electrical specifications include a reverse standoff voltage (VRWM) of 36V, maximum clamping voltage (VC) of 58.1V at 51.6A peak pulse current (IPP) using a 10/1000μs waveform, and a peak pulse power (PPP) of 3000W. The device features a fast response time of less than 1.0 ps and is rated for ESD protection up to 30kV (air and contact) per IEC 61000-4-2, and EFT protection per IEC 61000-4-4.
The diode is housed in a P600 axial leaded package with through-hole mounting. It has a steady state power dissipation of 7W on an infinite heat sink at TL=75°C, and thermal resistance junction-to-lead of 8.0°C/W and junction-to-ambient of 40°C/W. The operating junction temperature range is -55°C to 175°C.
Typical applications include general purpose circuit protection in telecom, computer, industrial, and consumer electronics. The device is RoHS compliant, halogen-free, and lead-free with a matte tin finish. It meets flammability rating V-0.
The reverse standoff voltage (VRWM) is 36 V.
The maximum clamping voltage (VC) is 58.1 V at peak pulse current.
The maximum peak pulse current (IPP) is 51.6 A for a 10/1000 μs waveform.
The maximum peak pulse power (PPP) is 3000 W for a 10/1000 μs waveform.
The device is packaged in a P600 axial leaded package for through-hole mounting.
The typical response time is less than 1.0 ps from 0 V to breakdown voltage.
The ESD rating is 30 kV for both air discharge and contact discharge per IEC 61000-4-2.
