The 2N5038G is an NPN silicon power transistor manufactured by ON Semiconductor. Designed for high current and fast switching applications, it features a maximum collector-emitter voltage (VCEO) of 90 V and a continuous collector current rating of 20 A (30 A peak). The device dissipates up to 140 W at a case temperature of 25°C, with a derating factor of 0.8 W/°C above 25°C.
The transistor offers a minimum DC current gain (hFE) of 20 at 12 A collector current and a maximum collector-emitter saturation voltage (VCE(sat)) of 2.5 V at 20 A collector current. It is housed in a TO-204AA (TO-3) through-hole metal package, providing robust thermal performance with a junction-to-case thermal resistance of 1.25 °C/W. The operating junction temperature range spans from -65°C to +200°C.
