The QPL 2N3420 is a silicon NPN transistor manufactured using the epitaxial planar process. It is designed for small signal general purpose and switching applications.
Key electrical characteristics include a Collector-Emitter Voltage (VCEO) of 60V and a Continuous Collector Current (IC) of 3A. The device also features a Peak Collector Current (ICM) of 5A and a Continuous Base Current (IB) of 1A. Its saturation voltages are specified, with VCE(SAT) at 0.25V maximum for 1A collector current and 0.50V maximum for 2A collector current. The transition frequency (fT) is 40MHz minimum at 10V and 100mA.
Thermal specifications include a Power Dissipation (PD) of 1W at 25°C ambient temperature and 15W at 25°C case temperature. The operating and storage junction temperature range is from -65°C to +200°C.
The transistor is housed in a TO-39 case and is suitable for through-hole mounting. The marking on the device is the full part number.
