It is designed to display a maximum of eight individual LED indications, which are user-configurable via the host module. The module can be located up to 1 km (0.6 miles) away from the host controller, and up to 10 DSE2548 modules can be linked together to provide up to 80 additional LED outputs.

Presented in a vertical enclosure, the DSE2548 includes an alarm sounder that activates upon detection of an alarm condition by the host controller. The alarm can be muted directly from the module using its front push button. It features individual LEDs for each channel and a 'Power On' LED that flashes if the link with the host controller is lost. The module operates within a DC power supply range of 8-35V and has an IP65 rating for the front of the module when installed with the supplied sealing gasket.
