The 3M 232-1297-00-3303 is a 32-position (2x16) zero insertion force (ZIF) DIP socket from the OEM ZIF DIP Socket series. It features a 2.54mm pitch and 0.6" (15.24mm) row spacing, designed for through-hole mounting. The socket uses a simple cam rotation mechanism for zero insertion/extraction force, making it suitable for applications requiring frequent DIP package field replacement or reprogramming.
Electrically, the socket is rated for 1A continuous current, with a contact resistance of 25 mOhm. Insulation resistance exceeds 1 × 10^12 Ω at 500 Vdc, and the withstanding voltage is 1000 Vrms at sea level. The wiping area and solder tails are plated with gold, with a thickness of 250 µin (6.35 µm), underplated with nickel.
Mechanically, the contacts are made of beryllium copper, providing reliable normal force of 150 grams average per contact. The housing is glass-filled polyetherimide (PEI) with a UL 94V-0 flammability rating. The socket is rated for 100 actuations and operates over -55°C to 105°C.
