The Kyocera AVX 2220AA472MAT1A is a high voltage multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) designed for demanding applications such as snubbers in high frequency power converters, resonators in switch-mode power supplies, and high voltage coupling/DC blocking. It features a capacitance of 4700 pF with a voltage rating of 1000 V (1 kV) and a C0G (NP0) dielectric, providing stable capacitance over temperature and frequency.
This capacitor is offered in a 2220 (5750 Metric) surface mount package with dimensions of 5.70 mm x 5.00 mm and a maximum thickness of 3.30 mm. The termination finish is plated Ni and Sn, making it RoHS compliant. It operates over a temperature range of -55°C to 125°C and has a tolerance of ±20%.
Due to its larger physical size, special precautions are required during assembly. Reflow soldering is recommended, and the temperature gradient during heating or cooling should not exceed 4°C per second. The preheat temperature must be within 50°C of the peak temperature reached by the ceramic body. For applications in high voltage environments, a protective surface coating may be necessary to prevent external arcing.
