The 1N6039 is a bidirectional transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode from Microchip Technology, part of the 1N6036A-1N6072A series. Designed to protect sensitive electronics from voltage transients, it offers a peak pulse power dissipation of 1500W at 10/1000µs. The device has a reverse standoff voltage of 8V and clamps at 15V with a peak pulse current of 100A. Its response time is less than 100 ps, making it effective against fast transients.
This TVS diode is suitable for a variety of applications including protection from inductive switching transients, induced RF effects, ESD, EFT per IEC 61000-4-2 and IEC 61000-4-4, and secondary lightning effects per IEC 61000-4-5. It is also used in airborne avionics and electrical systems. Military qualified versions with JAN, JANTX, and JANTXV prefixes are available per MIL-PRF-19500/507.
The 1N6039 is housed in a hermetically sealed DO-13 (DO-202AA) metal package, providing ruggedness and reliability. It features through-hole mounting with axial leads. The operating temperature range is -55°C to 175°C, and the device can be soldered at 260°C for 10 seconds. Note that power line protection is not supported.
