The 1N6036 is a bidirectional transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode from Microchip Technology, part of the 1N6036A-1N6072A series. It is designed to protect sensitive electronics from voltage transients induced by switching, lightning, or electrostatic discharge. The device offers a peak pulse power rating of 1500 W at 10/1000 µs and clamps transients in less than 100 ps.
Key electrical specifications include a working voltage (V_WM) of 5.5 V, a clamping voltage of 11.7 V at a peak pulse current of 128 A, and a bidirectional configuration. The device operates over a junction temperature range of -55°C to 175°C and has a rated average power dissipation of 1 W at 25°C.
The 1N6036 is housed in a hermetically sealed DO-13 (DO-202AA) metal package for through-hole mounting. It is suitable for a variety of applications including protection against inductive switching transients, induced RF effects, ESD and EFT per IEC 61000-4-2 and IEC 61000-4-4, and secondary lightning effects per IEC 61000-4-5. The device is available in RoHS compliant versions for commercial grade applications.
