The 1N5820-E3/73 is a Schottky barrier plastic rectifier from Vishay, designed for low voltage, high frequency applications. It features a repetitive peak reverse voltage of 20 V and an average forward current of 3 A.
Electrical characteristics include a low forward voltage drop of 475 mV maximum at 3 A (pulse test), ensuring minimal conduction losses. The device can handle peak forward surge currents up to 80 A (8.3 ms single half sine-wave). Reverse current is limited to 2 mA at 25 °C and 20 mA at 100 °C. Operating junction temperature range is -65 °C to +125 °C.
The diode is housed in a DO-201AD axial leaded package with through-hole mounting. Leads are matte tin plated and solderable per J-STD-002 and JESD 22-B102. Polarity is indicated by a color band on the cathode end. The molding compound meets UL 94 V-0 flammability rating.
Typical applications include low voltage high frequency inverters, freewheeling diodes, DC/DC converters, and polarity protection circuits. The guardring design provides overvoltage protection. The E3 suffix denotes RoHS3 compliance.
