The 1N5637 is a transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode from Microchip Technology, designed for protecting sensitive electronics from voltage transients. It is a unidirectional Zener-type TVS with a reverse standoff voltage of 22V and a peak pulse power rating of 1500W at a 10/1000 µs waveform. The device responds to transients in less than 100 ps, making it suitable for fast overvoltage events.
This TVS diode can handle a peak pulse current of 68A under the same waveform conditions. It is not intended for power line protection but is ideal for general-purpose transient suppression in a variety of applications. The operating temperature range spans from -65°C to 175°C, allowing use in harsh environments.
The 1N5637 is packaged in a hermetic metal DO-13 (DO-202AA) through-hole package, ensuring robust mechanical and environmental protection. The package features axial leads for through-hole mounting. No surface mount equivalent is available in this series, but similar parts exist in other packages.
Typical applications include protection against inductive switching transients, RF-induced effects, and secondary lightning effects per IEC61000-4-5. It also provides ESD and EFT protection per IEC61000-4-2 and IEC61000-4-4. The 1N5637 is commonly used in avionics, industrial control, and communication systems.
