The 1N5420 is a fast recovery rectifier diode from the 1N5415-1N5420 series, designed for high-reliability applications. It is rated for a working peak reverse voltage of 600V and an average rectified forward current of 3A at +55°C ambient, with derating at higher temperatures. The diode offers a fast reverse recovery time of 400ns and a forward surge current capability of 80A (8.3 ms half-sine).
This device features a voidless hermetically sealed glass axial package with quadruple-layer passivation and internal Category 1 metallurgical bonds, ensuring robust construction and low thermal resistance (22°C/W junction-to-lead). It is qualified per MIL-PRF-19500/411 and available in JAN, JANTX, JANTXV, and JANS levels.
Typical applications include military and aerospace power supplies, bridge rectifiers, catch diodes, and freewheeling diodes. The operating junction and storage temperature range is -65°C to +175°C.
