The 1N5420 is a fast recovery rectifier diode from Microchip Technology, part of the 1N5415-1N5420 series. It is designed for high-reliability applications and is qualified to MIL-PRF-19500/411 with JAN, JANTX, JANTXV levels. The diode has a working peak reverse voltage of 600V and an average rectified forward current of 3A. Its fast recovery time of 400ns makes it suitable for high-frequency rectification. The forward voltage is 1.5V at 9A. The device is hermetically sealed in a voidless glass axial package (B, Axial) with through-hole mounting. It has a wide operating temperature range of -65°C to 175°C and a forward surge current capability of 80A. The thermal resistance junction-to-lead is 22°C/W. This diode is ideal for military and other high-reliability applications including bridges, half-bridges, and catch diodes.
