The 1N3880 is a silicon fast recovery rectifier diode designed for high-efficiency power conversion applications. It is rated for a peak repetitive reverse voltage of 100V and a continuous forward current of 6A at case temperatures up to 100°C. The forward voltage drop is typically 1.4V at 6A.
With a reverse recovery time of 200ns, this diode is suitable for high-frequency switching circuits such as power supplies, inverters, and freewheeling diodes. It can withstand surge currents up to 90A (8.3ms half sine wave) and operates over a junction temperature range of -55°C to 150°C.
The device is packaged in a DO-4 (DO-203AA) stud mount package with standard polarity (stud is cathode). The thermal resistance from junction to case is 2.5°C/W, allowing efficient heat sinking in high-power designs.
