The 1N2972B is a 10W Zener diode from the 1N2970B-1N3015B series, offering a nominal Zener voltage of 8.2V with ±5% tolerance. It is designed for voltage regulation applications and is available in military qualified grades (JAN, JANTX, JANTXV) per MIL-PRF-19500/124. The device features a maximum impedance of 1.5Ω, reverse leakage current of 50µA at 6.2V, and a forward voltage of 1.5V at 2A. It operates over a junction temperature range of -65°C to 175°C and stores from -65°C to 200°C. The junction-to-case thermal resistance is 12°C/W, with power derating of 0.083W/°C above 55°C case temperature. The 1N2972B is housed in a hermetically sealed DO-203AA (DO-4) stud mount package, providing robust mechanical and environmental protection. It is insensitive to ESD per MIL-STD-750 method 1020 and inherently radiation hard. RoHS compliant versions are available with the e3 suffix (commercial grade only).
