The Bourns 1820-28-A3 is a 3-pole gas discharge tube (GDT) arrester from the 1800 Series, designed for signal and dataline protection. It features a DC spark-over voltage of 28 V and can handle impulse discharge currents up to 10,000 A (10 kA) with an 8/20 µs waveform. The device is rated for over 100 surge operations at 200 A (10/1000 µs) and over 10 operations at 10,000 A.
This protector uses a multi-stage design with a solid-state section for sub-nanosecond response and a 3-pole common chambered gas tube capable of handling lightning currents. It mounts on DIN rail (TS-32 or TS-35) and uses vibration-proof screw-type clamp terminals. The housing is flame-resistant epoxy-filled.
The 1820-28-A3 is suitable for protecting RS-232, RS-422, RS-423, RS-485 interfaces and 20 mA/50 mA instrumentation loops in computer, data communication, and industrial control applications.
The DC spark-over voltage is 28 V.
The impulse discharge current is 10,000 A (10 kA) for an 8/20 µs waveform.
It has 3 poles.
It is designed for DIN rail mounting.
No, it does not fail short.
It is rated for more than 100 operations at 200 A (10/1000 µs).
It is rated for more than 10 operations at 10,000 A.
