Kyocera AVX 1808AA101JAT1A is a high voltage multilayer ceramic chip capacitor designed for 600V to 5000V applications. It offers 100 pF capacitance with ±5% tolerance and a rated voltage of 1000V (1kV). The dielectric is C0G (NP0) providing stable temperature characteristics with minimal capacitance change over the operating range of -55°C to 125°C. This capacitor is intended for use in snubber circuits in high frequency power converters, resonators in switch mode power supplies, and high voltage coupling or DC blocking applications. It exhibits low ESR at high frequencies, making it suitable for high performance circuits.
The component is housed in a surface mount 1808 (4520 metric) package with dimensions 4.60mm x 2.00mm x 1.45mm. The termination is plated Ni and Sn, which is RoHS compliant per the datasheet (unverified). It is supplied in 7-inch tape and reel packaging. For reliable assembly, the temperature gradient during soldering should not exceed 4°C per second, and reflow soldering is recommended for sizes 1210 and larger (this 1808 size is larger than 1210, so reflow is required). Capacitors may require a protective surface coating to prevent external arcing at high voltage.
