The 15KPA40A is a unidirectional TVS diode from Littelfuse designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning and other transient events. It features a reverse stand-off voltage of 40V and a clamping voltage of 65.8V at a peak pulse current of 229.5A, with a peak pulse power dissipation of 15kW (10/1000μs waveform). The device offers a fast response time of less than 1ps and provides ESD protection up to 30kV (air and contact) per IEC 61000-4-2, as well as EFT protection per IEC 61000-4-4.
Housed in a P600 axial through-hole package, the 15KPA40A has a steady state power dissipation of 8.0W and operates over a junction temperature range of -55°C to 175°C. It is halogen-free and lead-free, with UL recognition to UL 497B. Typical applications include protection of I/O interfaces, VCC bus, and other vulnerable circuits in telecom, computer, industrial, and consumer electronics.
