The 120NQ045 is a high current Schottky rectifier from Vishay Dale, optimized for very low forward voltage drop with moderate leakage. It features a maximum reverse voltage of 45V and an average forward current rating of 120A at 50% duty cycle and TC=106°C. The forward voltage is typically 0.57V at 120A and 25°C, dropping to 0.52V at 125°C, enabling high efficiency operation.
The device is housed in a D-67 HALF-PAK module designed for chassis mounting, offering a lower profile and easier mounting compared to dual DO-5 packages. It supports a wide operating junction temperature range of -55°C to 150°C and has a thermal resistance junction-to-case of 0.40°C/W. The rectifier can handle non-repetitive surge currents up to 29,000A for 5µs and 1,550A for 10ms, making it robust for demanding applications.
Typical applications include switching power supplies, converters, free-wheeling diodes, and reverse battery protection. The guard ring design enhances ruggedness and long-term reliability. The device is also capable of high frequency operation and has a junction capacitance of 5200pF at 5V and 1MHz.
