The 1.5SMC82A-E3/9AT is a unidirectional transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode from Vishay's 1.5SMC series, designed to protect sensitive electronics from voltage transients. It offers a peak pulse power dissipation of 1500 W for a 10/1000 µs waveform, with a maximum clamping voltage of 113 V at a peak pulse current of 13.3 A. The reverse standoff voltage is 70.1 V typical. The device features a glass passivated chip junction for reliability, very fast response time, and low incremental surge resistance. It is suitable for general purpose applications including protection against inductive load switching and lightning induced transients in consumer, computer, industrial, automotive, and telecommunication equipment.
The diode is housed in a surface mount SMC (DO-214AB) package with matte tin plated leads, ideal for automated placement. It operates over a junction temperature range of -65°C to 150°C. According to the datasheet, the E3 suffix indicates RoHS compliance, and the device meets MSL level 1 per J-STD-020. The package molding compound meets UL 94 V-0 flammability rating.
