The 1.5SMC56A-E3/57T is a 1500W peak pulse power transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode from Vishay Dale's 1.5SMC series. It is designed to protect sensitive electronics from voltage transients induced by inductive load switching and lightning. This unidirectional device offers a reverse standoff voltage of 47.8 V, a nominal breakdown voltage of 56 V, and a clamping voltage of 77 V at a peak pulse current of 19.5 A (10/1000 µs waveform).
The diode features a glass passivated chip junction for reliable performance and very fast response time to transients. It is housed in a low-profile DO-214AB (SMC) surface-mount package, ideal for automated placement. The part is RoHS3 compliant (E3 suffix) and meets MSL level 1 per J-STD-020 with a maximum peak reflow temperature of 260 °C.
Typical applications include protection of ICs, MOSFETs, and signal lines in consumer, computer, industrial, and telecommunication equipment. The operating junction temperature range is -65 °C to 150 °C. For automotive applications, AEC-Q101 qualified versions are available with HE3 or HM3 suffix.
