The 1.5KE18CA-E3/73 is a bidirectional transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode from Vishay Dale, part of the 1.5KE series. It features a reverse standoff voltage of 15.3V, a nominal breakdown voltage of 18V, and a maximum clamping voltage of 25.2V at a peak pulse current of 59.5A (10/1000μs waveform). The device is rated for 1500W peak pulse power, making it suitable for protecting sensitive electronics from voltage transients caused by inductive load switching and lightning.
The diode utilizes a glass passivated chip junction for reliability and offers very fast response time with low incremental surge resistance. It is designed for through-hole mounting in a DO-201AA, DO-27, or Axial package with matte tin plated leads that are solderable per J-STD-002 and JESD 22-B102. The operating temperature range is -55°C to 175°C.
Typical applications include protection of ICs, MOSFETs, and signal lines in consumer, computer, industrial, automotive, and telecommunication equipment. This part is RoHS3 compliant (E3 suffix) and is commercial grade. Note that bidirectional devices are available only up to 1.5KE220CA per the datasheet.
