New line of threaded SMPM interconnects released

SV Microwave has released a cutting-edge line of threaded SMPM interconnects, including cable and PCB connectors, adapters, and cable assemblies. These innovative products offer a standard SMPM RF interface, improved with a threaded coupling nut for extra mating captivation.

The company has tailored its Threaded SMPM product line to provide the best of both worlds – compact design and high RF performance in demanding conditions. It offers competitive pricing, further solderless and pre-tinned connectors options, and an expansive product range.

The SMPM interface was developed as a smaller version of the SMP interface to meet the increasing need for RF technology in higher-frequency, higher-density applications while maintaining a small form factor.

Maintaining a secure connection is a key challenge in high-vibration environments, such as space launches or defence aircraft flight conditions. While traditional SMPM push-on designs offer smaller sizes, they often fail to maintain a connection in these extreme conditions. This can lead to loose connections or improper bottoming, negatively affecting RF performance.

Standard threaded connectors, like an SMA, have too large of a footprint to be viable in designs with tight packaging needs. To combat these issues, the company's threaded SMPM interconnects provide a secure, threaded coupling nut that enhances connection reliability and ensures low mating and de-mating force.

While the threaded SMPM is slightly larger than a traditional SMPM due to the coupling nut, it remains significantly smaller than an SMA, making it the ideal fit for high-frequency, small-form-factor applications. With a frequency range of up to 40GHz, these connectors deliver superior performance in compact designs.

These threaded SMPM interconnects are versatile and can be used across various applications, including defence/aerospace, commercial, space, Power Dividers and Combiners.

The company's product line includes PCB and cable connectors, adapters, and cable assemblies available in straight and right-angle orientations, with Ø.047" and Ø.085" cable types to meet various design needs.

After successfully launching its original Threaded SMPM RF Connectors and Adapters line, the company extended the product family to include further PCB connector variations, including solderless and pre-tinned solutions. It recently introduced threaded SMPM RF cable assemblies to provide a complete interconnect solution for demanding environments.

The company delivers competitive pricing and added value, such as a pre-tinned option for applications where gold embrittlement is a concern or solderless options for a quick and easy installation. With the release of our new threaded SMPM interconnects, we provide the ideal solution for environments where performance, compact size, and reliability are paramount.
